Shot Day :(

Katie and I slept in today until 10am. It was great! When we finally decided to get out of bed we started to pick up around the house. Katie didn't know it yet, but she was having a visit from the home nurse, Nancy, to give her the Synagis shot. This shot is for RSV.

RSV is short for Respiratory Syncytial Virus. It can cause serious illness in premature infants and children. RSV is a very common virus, which causes mild cold-like symptoms in most infants and children. However, certain populations such as premature babies are at a severe risk for RSV.

So, Nancy came around noon. We weighed Katie and she is a whopping 7lbs exactly!! She was also 20 inches long. Very long and lean. :) Nancy was impressed with her weight gain and how great she looked. At least Joe and I are doing something right- we know how to feed our child.

Then came the shot. Of course, Katie threw a fit! She got a band-aid on her thigh and after I calmed her down she was fine. She took her bottle and went straight to bed. Her next shot for RSV isn't until next month.
